About NCBLG

The North Carolina Board for Licensing of Geologists is responsible for regulating the public practice of geology in North Carolina, in accordance with North Carolina General Statute §89E, the Geologists Licensing Act.

The licensing act ensures that individuals offering professional geology services meet certain educational, professional, and ethical standards in order to protect life, property, health and public welfare.

More information regarding what services require a professional geologist license, minimum qualifications for acquiring and maintaining a license, and corporate license requirements can be found in the Licensure section of the site.

If you suspect an individual or corporate entity is acting in violation of the Geologists Licensing Act or the rules of this Board and wish to file a complaint, please visit the “File a Complaint” page, or contact the Board office.
