License Renewal

The annual license period for all individual and corporate geology licenses runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. All licenses must be renewed annually.

NC licensed geologists and licensed geology firm managers will receive notice via email when online license renewal opens for the 2023-2024 license year. All licenses must be renewed by June, 2023.  Individual licensees will be required to report 12 hours of CE with their renewal.

Renewal Requirements

  • License renewals are due by June 30 of each year.
     
  • The renewal fee for individual licenses is $85. A $50 late fee will apply starting July 1. Licenses not renewed by July 31 must be reinstated.
     
  • All licensed geologists must report 12 Professional Development Hours (PDH) of continuing education (CE) prior to renewing.*  Up to 12 hours of excess CE can be carried over into the following license period.

    *New licensees by way of examination are exempt from the CE requirement for their first renewal. Licensees by way of comity are required to report 12 PDH of CE with their first license renewal.

  • Corporate license renewals are due by June 30 of each year.
     
  • The renewal fee for corporate licenses is $25. A $50 late fee will apply starting July 1. Licenses not renewed by July 31 must be reinstated.
     
  • The individual license for your firm's designated Geologist in Charge must also be renewed, or the corporate license will be subject to revocation.
