The North Carolina Board for Licensing of Geologists

The North Carolina Board for Licensing of Geologists is responsible for regulating the public practice of geology in North Carolina, in accordance with North Carolina General Statute §89E, the Geologists Licensing Act.

License Renewal due by June 30, 2022

The deadline to renew your individual and/or corporate geology license without penalty is June 30, 2022. Licensees will be able to renew with a $50 late fee from July 1 through July 31, 2022. Individual licensees will be required to report 12 PDH of CE with their renewal. Online renewal will be available mid-April through a new Licensee Portal. Watch your email for specific instructions regarding CE application and reporting and license renewal. Be sure that the Board has your correct email address on file by using the licensee search feature on the Licensee Listing page or the Corporate Licensee Listing page found under the Resources tab. ASBOG® Examination - October 6, 2023

The ASBOG® exam will convert to computer based testing (CBT) beginning with the March 2023 administration. The exam can be taken at any of 575 testing facilities throughout the contiguous US, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. There are currently 21 locations available in North Carolina. Visit www.asbog.org for further information. Active exam candidates will receive further information in November 2022. In order to take the October 6, 2023 exam, candidates must have a completed application on file with the NC Board. Your file must be complete by July 27, 2023 in order to ensure that the application can be approved by the Board at their August 2023 meeting. The testing portal will open for registration 6 weeks prior to the examination.
