Conference Call Meeting
Thursday, October 9, 2014

The NC Board for Licensing of Geologists met by conference call on Thursday,
October 9, 2014. The Conflict of Interest Statement was read by Board Chair
Lindsey Walata, as required by the NC Ethics Commission. Dr. Taylor noted that, as
the State Geologist and employee of the NC Department of Environment and Natural
Resources, he will refrain from participating in the deliberation or taking any action
by the Board with respect to any application for licensing submitted by an employee
of the Department. There were no other conflicts noted.

The meeting was called to order at 10:03 am by Ms. Walata. Others present
included Rick Kolb, Bill Miller, John Stevens and Kenneth Taylor. Board counsel
Phillip Reynolds and Board Administrator Barbara Geiger were also present.
Ms. Walata gave an overview of the process for review of existing rules per HB7 4.
She noted that the purpose of the conference call meeting was to review comments
received during the public comment period regarding the existing rules, to respond
to comments and to vote on each rule.

Ms. Geiger noted that no comments regarding the existing rules had been received.
Dr. Miller made the motion to adopt the existing rules report including the
acceptance of each rule as it stands. The motion was seconded by Rick Kolb and
carried unanimously.

Ms. Geiger was directed by the Board to file the required report with the Rules
Review Commission by the October 15, 2014 deadline as required.
Phillip Reynolds noted that the meeting of the RRC where the Board's existing rules
would be reviewed would be held on November 20, 2014. Lindsey Walata and
Barbara Geiger plan to attend this meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:12 am.
